Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player won his initial trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates he has won 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

The player's counter-punching approach and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional title, took control to create a decider.

Moutet defended four early break points in a close third set before the Russian won the break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
